It is known that high cyclic content contained in conventional vinyl silicone oil not only necessitates energy-intensive secondary vulcanization, but its volatility also impairs the performance of downstream products. Worse still, such products struggle to comply with environmental regulations including EU REACH and RoHS directives.
To address the urgent demand for ultra-high purity, low volatility and high stability base materials in electronic encapsulation, biomedical applications, precision manufacturing and other fields, the enterprise upgraded its traditional dimethyl silicone oil production lines to manufacture low-cyclic vinyl silicone oil. Three major targets have been fulfilled: full-process automatic precise control for enhanced process and product stability; capacity expansion with an annual output exceeding 5,000 metric tons; stable supply of high-end low-viscosity, low-volatility vinyl silicone oil to satisfy market requirements.
The company’s six-member R&D team embarked on this challenging development project for low-cyclic vinyl silicone oil from project preparation in December 2024 to successful R&D completion on June 30, 2025. Team members worked overnight to tackle technical obstacles. Hundreds of rounds of data verification were carried out for catalyst screening, with precise monitoring required for every proportion adjustment. During polymerization optimization, researchers pulled countless all-nighters beside high-temperature reaction kettles and completed thousands of rounds of adjustments on dozens of parameters to lock in the optimal reaction window. The team never backed down amid failures and held urgent overnight discussions to overcome technical bottlenecks. Eventually, the first batch of qualified silicone oil flowed out crystal clear, with all test indicators meeting standards.
The successful mass production of low-cyclic vinyl silicone oil delivers ideal base material solutions for high-end electronic encapsulation, biomedical materials, high-temperature lubrication, precision manufacturing, high-performance material modification and liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding.
Moving forward, this Chinese silicone materials enterprise will continue focusing on cost reduction and efficiency improvement, quality upgrading and new product development. It will launch higher-quality, eco-friendlier low-cyclic silicone products to strengthen core competitiveness on the global market.
